Account & data deletion
This page explains how to request deletion of your Konto account and data. Konto is operated by DelmDev. If you only want to remove specific transactions or accounts, you can do that at any time inside the app — this page is for deleting your whole account.
You can request deletion in either of these ways:
You have 14 days to change your mind. After you request deletion, your account is locked and there is a 14-day grace period. You can cancel any time during those 14 days simply by signing back into the app, and your account is fully restored. If you do nothing, deletion is processed permanently after 14 days.
Cancel your subscription separately. If you have a paid subscription, deleting your account does not cancel it. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play — cancel it there as well to stop being charged.
Konto's financial history is stored in an append-only ledger, so we complete deletion by anonymizing your data — permanently removing everything that identifies you — rather than leaving personal information behind. Here is exactly what happens:
| Data | What happens | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Your identity Email, first/last name, password | Permanently erased or replaced with anonymous values | After the 14-day grace period |
| Your transaction details Descriptions, notes, merchant names | Permanently erased or anonymized | After the 14-day grace period |
| Your account & personal-space names | Permanently erased or anonymized | After the 14-day grace period |
| Receipt-scan usage records | Detached from you (no receipt content is ever stored) | After the 14-day grace period |
| Shared-space financial records Amount, date, category of transactions in spaces you shared with others | Kept, but fully de-identified — stripped of your name, notes, and descriptions, and shown to other members only as "Transaction from a former member." This keeps their balances and history correct. | Retained while the shared space exists, with no personal identifiers |
| Records required by law | Kept only where necessary to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our terms | Only as long as legally required |
| Encrypted backups | Copies made before deletion expire automatically on their normal cycle | Within 30 days |
| Server logs | Rotated out automatically | Up to 30 days |
